The purpose of this study is to determine the basic economic, social and demographic factors that can affect poverty. From this framework, firstly the phenomenon of poverty will be discussed, and then the measurement methods and theoretical approaches of poverty will be examined. Moreover, the study aims to contribute to the literature with an empirical study that covers the determinants of poverty more comprehensively. In this study, the determinants of poverty have been examined in terms of selected developing countries using the System Generalized Moments Method (GMM) for the period 1995-2015 in this study. According to the analysis results, the lagged value of the poverty rate, population, unemployment rate and increases in life expectancy increase poverty. On the other hand, it was determined that increases in per capita income, foreign trade ratio, industry's GDP share, compulsory education year and individual internet use have a poverty reducing effect.
